Olivia Aspinall has been experimenting with surface design since her time at Central Saint Martins. Upon leaving the prestigious arts school she founded a Nottingham based studio in 2015 and has gone on to work on a number of bespoke projects. These have given her the opportunity to perfect the creation of her terrazzo slabs into durable yet decorative pieces that can offer an alternative to conventional stone, tile and cast surfaces.
Most recently she partnered up with the interior design studio At Drewstead Road to create a bespoke terrazzo counter with corresponding wall cladding and accessories for Cancer Research UK. Located in Marylebone it is the first of 35 premium shops that the charity has redesigned, kick-starting a new era for charity shops and how we relate to them as customers. The Marylebone store has been designed to offer a unique shopping experience and aims to evolve people’s perceptions of charity shopping. In a world where everyone has become more environmentally conscious, this is a key step in reducing our current throwaway fashion culture.
