Mexican based artist Ana Leovy celebrates women and diversity through her vibrant acrylic paintings. Typically using a technique called blind contour drawing, a method in which you keep your eyes fixed on the subject without looking at what your drawing.
“I fell in love with the technique right away, I find it very interesting to interpret what you see and get results that look so far from reality when put onto paper.”
Her art represents strong confident women, fused between real life and her imagination, revealing both internal external beauty. The result is lively and energetic portraits with a child-like charm. Elongated arms and legs and a wide spectrum of colours and tones for the skin enhance the diversity in her paintings. Although most the portraits lack a distinct expression in their faces; the locations, surroundings and colours reflect the true emotion of the images.
